In the sandy arena of Arles, 1960, the matador Luis Miguel Dominguin, dressed in an ornate suit, assumes a low, athletic crouch. He faces a large, dark bull, its head lowered towards a cloth on the ground and banderillas protruding from its back. Behind a wooden barrier, spectators watch the tense event before the massive stone walls of the ancient amphitheater. This particular bullfight was also attended by Pablo Picasso.
