Pablo Picasso and Marie Cuttoli, close friend and collector of his works and Henri Laugier, friend of Marie Cuttoli. He donated together with Marie Cuttoli 24 artworks to the Musée National d’Art Moderne. La Californie, Cannes 1959.
At his villa La Californie in Cannes, Pablo Picasso stands between his close friend and collector, Marie Cuttoli, and her friend, Henri Laugier, in 1959. As Laugier, in a suit and glasses, speaks with the artist, Cuttoli observes from behind dark sunglasses. The grand salon is dominated by Picasso’s monumental painting, “Les Demoiselles d'Avignon,” which hangs on the wall behind them. Cuttoli and Laugier would later jointly donate 24 artworks, including some by Picasso, to the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris.
