In the sunlit, creative chaos of the Villa La Californie studio, Pablo Picasso converses with his lifelong friend, Jaime Sabartés. Dressed casually, Picasso appears animated as he speaks, while Sabartés, more formally attired in a suit, listens intently. The artist highly valued the opinion of Sabartés, whom he had met in Barcelona in 1899. All around them, stacked canvases and sculptures fill the space, testament to a prolific working life.
