"Faune", Frontispice for Verve (cover Sylvette), vol. 8, No. 29/30,09/54. Private collection.
The frontispiece for the September 1954 issue of the art review *Verve* (vol. 8, no. 29/30), personally dedicated by Picasso to Edward Quinn. Above the publication's title, the artist wrote "Pour mon ami Quinn" and drew a large, simple face in colored pencil, which he titled "Faune." His signature appears to the right of the director's name, Tériade. Colorful, wavy lines in red, blue, green, and orange complete the spontaneous composition on the off-white page.
