Pablo Picasso with Claude Picasso in a "swashbuckler" ("cap et épée") dress. La Californie, Cannes 1955.

In the cluttered studio of his villa La Californie in Cannes, Pablo Picasso raises his hands in mock surrender to his son, Claude. Dressed in a swashbuckler’s "cap et épée" costume, Claude lunges forward, pointing a stick like a sword at his smiling father. Amid the numerous canvases resting on the parquet floor, the boy's "sword" appears to pass through a propped-up portrait of a woman. 1955.
