Pablo Picasso and Catherine Hutin. Château de Vauvenargues, where Pablo Picasso lived from 1959-62, near Aix-en-Provence. A great square building dating from the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. Vauvenargues 1960.

Pablo Picasso and his stepdaughter, Catherine Hutin, descend the weathered stone steps of the Château de Vauvenargues in 1960. Picasso, in a houndstooth fedora with a cigarette in hand, lived at the historic residence near Aix-en-Provence from 1959 to 1962. Hutin wears a peaked cap and fringed boots. They are framed by the grand, arched doorway of the château, its massive wooden doors set beneath ornate iron scrollwork.
