Pablo Picasso at La Californie. The proverbial disorder of the rooms in which Pablo Picasso works is unique. Beside the large pieces of sculpture in painted iron and plaster hang portraits of Jacqueline and Paloma Picasso surrounded by drawings, objects and notes pinned to the wall. La Californie, Cannes 1961.

In the proverbial disorder of his studio at the villa La Californie, Pablo Picasso stands shirtless by a shuttered window from which bright daylight streams. The Cannes room, pictured in 1961, is a space of creative chaos. Daylight illuminates a large plaster sculpture, a cluttered work table, and painted iron assemblages. Surrounded by drawings, objects, and notes pinned to the wall are portraits of Jacqueline and Paloma Picasso, all part of a dynamic environment where finished and unfinished works coexist in a rich tapestry of textures and forms.
