Pablo Picasso working on linogravure rehaussée, the so called épreuves rincées (rinsed proofs). Mas Notre-Dame-de-Vie, Mougins 1964.
At his Mas Notre-Dame-de-Vie home in Mougins, 1964, Pablo Picasso works on a *linogravure rehaussée*. Seen in profile, the artist hunches over a print, applying a bold, angular stroke with a wide brush laden with black ink. Wearing a sweater over a collared shirt, he steadies the paper with his left hand, which shows a ring on one finger. This technique of reworking a print with ink or paint produced what he called *épreuves rincées* (rinsed proofs).
