Pablo Picasso washing a linocut print to remove surplus ink. Even though he was nearly eighty at the time he did this work, he enjoyed the physical effort and the adventure. Mas Notre-Dame-de-Vie, Mougins 1964.

With intense concentration, Pablo Picasso leans over a bathroom sink to wash a linocut print, carefully removing surplus ink under running water. Photographed in profile at his home, Mas Notre-Dame-de-Vie in Mougins, the artist wears dark-rimmed glasses and a v-neck sweater. Even at nearly eighty years of age in 1964, Picasso clearly relished the physical effort and adventure of the printmaking process. The intimate setting is detailed by patterned tiles and a small shelf holding what appear to be inkwells.
