Tir aux Pigeons tunnel. Monaco Grand Prix 1960.
During the 1960 Monaco Grand Prix, the long, arched Tir aux Pigeons tunnel is illuminated by a row of large spotlights on tripods. Lined up along the road, they cast bright pools of light up the walls of rectangular blocks to the dark, rough-hewn stone ceiling. At the base of the wall, a string of small, bare bulbs follows the curve of the pavement as the tunnel recedes into darkness.
