A threatening sky over a Dublin City lane. Dublin 1963. Published in Quinn, Edward. James Joyces Dublin. Secker & Warburg, London 1974.

Under a threatening sky in Dublin, 1963, a narrow, dark lane recedes between the heavy silhouettes of brick buildings. Puddles on the wet ground reflect the overcast light. On the right, rooftops are detailed with chimneys, and thin wires stretch across the gap between the buildings. A lone bird is caught in flight against the thick, moody clouds. This photograph was published in Edward Quinn's 1974 book, *James Joyce's Dublin*.
