Pablo Picasso, Louise Leiris, owner with Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler of the Leiris Gallery Paris, Michel Leiris, André Weill, publisher of some deluxe editions of Pablo Picasso's work, and Paulo Picasso. La Californie, Cannes 1959.

At his villa La Californie in Cannes, Pablo Picasso presents two large pieces of modern art to a group of associates in 1959. With his back to the camera in a striped shirt and houndstooth trousers, the artist is joined by gallerist Louise Leiris, who smiles at his side, her husband Michel Leiris, publisher André Weill, and Picasso’s son, Paulo. The focal point is two nearly identical cubist portraits, rendered with bold geometric shapes and displayed informally on a bentwood rocking chair for the group’s thoughtful consideration.
