In 1967, after agreeing to let Edward Quinn photograph his top-floor studios, Pablo Picasso took out old and new paintings from his collection. Here, at Mas Notre-Dame-de-Vie in Mougins, the artist stands beside his wife, Jacqueline Roque. Dressed in an elaborately patterned shirt, Picasso looks directly at the camera while Jacqueline smiles gently towards him. They are surrounded by canvases, including a large Cubist reclining nude and a portrait of a woman stacked against the stone wall.
