Luis Miguel Dominguin. Arles 1960. A bullfight Picasso attended (see "Picasso").
In the sun-drenched arena of Arles, matador Luis Miguel Dominguin confronts a charging black bull, 1960. Dressed in an elaborate white and gold "traje de luces," he extends one hand towards the animal while holding a red muleta in the other. The bull, its back pierced by several banderillas, kicks up dust as spectators watch from the stands of the ancient amphitheater. This particular bullfight was also attended by Pablo Picasso.
