During his 1963 visit to Ireland, President John F. Kennedy made an unscheduled stop in Cork, arriving by the U.S. Army helicopter visible in the background. In an open field, an enthusiastic crowd presses in to greet him as he smiles and reaches out to shake hands. The onlookers, dressed in period attire, raise cameras to capture the moment. It was during this impromptu visit that Kennedy was made a Freeman of Cork at City Hall.
