Luis Miguel Dominguin. Nimes 1960. A bullfight Picasso attended (see "Picasso").
In the Nimes arena in 1960, matador Luis Miguel Dominguin confronts a bull during a corrida also attended by Pablo Picasso. Dressed in a light, embroidered "traje de luces," he holds a muleta low to the ground and a sword pointed toward the animal. The bull stands opposite, its head lowered, with two decorated banderillas protruding from its shoulders. The tiered stands are filled with spectators, with a banner for the "UNION TAURINE NIMOISE" visible in the background.
