Italian actress Claudia Cardinale, Luchino Visconti (above) and Burt Lancaster. Most attention however was given to the leopard, heraldic animal in the film "Il Gattopardo". Cannes Film Festival in 1963
At the 1963 Cannes Film Festival, actress Claudia Cardinale and actor Burt Lancaster crouch on the sand with a cheetah, the main attraction during a promotion for their film "Il Gattopardo" ("The Leopard"). Director Luchino Visconti stands behind, resting his hands on their shoulders. Dressed in a light suit, Cardinale smiles at the collared animal, which lies calmly before them as a crowd looks on. The cheetah served as the living heraldic symbol for the film.
